ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER

 

 

 

 

The Town of Westbrook is seeking applicants for a part-time Animal Control Officer.

 

 

 

This position works independently under the general supervision of the First Selectman and is responsible for enforcement duties relative to an animal control program; enforces Connecticut State Dog Statutes and Town regulations.  The Animal Control Officer is on call 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.  A full job description is available in the First Selectman’s Office and on the Town’s website.

 

 

 

The position requires a High School Diploma, specialized training, State Certification and 6 months experience in animal handling, care or control.

The Northeastern Connecticut Council of Governments (NECCOG)

has an immediate opening for a

Full-time Regional Animal Services Officer.

 

This position, on a routine basis, or as assigned, enforces domestic animal protection laws to protect the safety and rights of the
public and the welfare of domestic animals. Tasks and responsibilities include responding to reports of vicious animals, animal cruelty, animal pick-up and confinement, responding to property damage complaints, preparing reports, representing NECCOG and testifying in court.
Most work is performed in the field with considerable independence within the limits of current regulations, laws, codes, policies and accepted procedures. 

 

Qualifications: Connecticut Department of Agriculture ACO Certification and two or more years of animal control experience - preferred; Connecticut certification (within six months of appointment or when the next certification is offered by the state for such certification) as a
Animal Control Officer; Associates Degree Preferred; Valid Drivers License.

Assistant Director Regional Animal Services Program

(Full-Time)
The Northeastern Connecticut Council of Governments (NECCOG)

has an immediate opening for the newly created position of Assistant Director for the Regional Animal Services Program.


NECCOG operates the largest regional animal services program in Connecticut - currently serving 19 towns. This position reports directly to the Regional Animal Services Program Director and will act in that persons place as the need arrives. This person will have routine and ongoing supervision of field ACOs, office staff and volunteers. On a routine basis, this person will perform basic ACO duties including the enforcement of domestic animal protection laws to protect the safety and rights of the public and the welfare of domestic animals. Tasks
and responsibilities include, but are not limited to responding to reports of vicious animals, animal cruelty, animal pick-up and confinement, responding to property damage complaints, preparing reports, representing NECCOG and testifying in court.
