Compensation:  $30 flat rate per assigned shift and hourly rate if called-in

Posting Dates: July 18, 2022, will remain open until all available shifts are staffed


General Statement of Duties


The Animal Control Officer on call is available for the duration of their assigned shift to respond to domestic and wild animal control concerns requiring immediate intervention. The Animal Control Officer performs animal control service work in the enforcement of State statutes and local ordinances regulating the keeping of animals within the Town of Stafford while ensuring public safety and humane animal conditions are priority.


*Being on-call means an employee is available to work if their employer contacts them. Employees who are on call will need to remain near town and available to respond to calls within thirty (30) minutes. While on-call, the Animal Control Officer will be paid a flat rate of $30 per assigned shift. If the ACO is called-in to respond to an event, they will receive an applicable hourly rate of pay dependent upon experience, for time worked.


Work Schedule 

Schedules will be variable and assigned based upon the applicant’s availability and desired number of shifts per week. The Town of Stafford is currently seeking applicants that have availability for any combination of the following shifts:


Evenings: Sunday through Thursday during the hours of 4pm to 8am (16 hour shifts). 

Weekends: Friday 4pm to 8am, Saturday 8am to 4pm, Saturday 4pm to 8am, Sunday 8am to 4pm, Sunday 4pm to 8am (16 hour shifts).

POSITION TITLE:            Assistant Animal Control Officer             

DEPARTMENT:                 Monroe Police Department

REPORTS TO:                   Chief of Police

CLASSIFICATION:          Hourly; Unaffiliated; Per Diem

PAY RANGE:        $14.00 - $19.00 PER HOUR


Enforces all Connecticut State laws and regulations and ordinances pertaining to animals.  Manages the animal care facility.
